Robert L. Thomas
Robert L. Thomas is a native of Haywood County, Tennessee. He graduated as a Distinguished Scholar from Haywood High School in 1998. Following his graduation from high school, Mr. Thomas attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. It was during his time at the University of Michigan that Mr. Thomas decided to pursue a career in law. As such, he decided to attend the Marquette University Law School, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and graduated from the same in 2006. While in law school, Mr. Thomas was a member of the Marquette Sports Law Review, active in the Black Law Students Association, and received the National Sports Law Certificate upon graduation.
After law school, Mr. Thomas decided to return to Tennessee to practice law. Mr. Thomas joined the law firm of Weinman and Associates in 2007, and became a partner of the firm, now renamed the Weinman Thomas law firm, in 2015. Mr. Thomas is licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee, the State of Wisconsin, the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Thomas currently practices in various areas of the law, with an emphasis on employment litigation, social security disability, and criminal defense in both the state and federal courts.
Mr. Thomas is a member of the Chapel Hill M.B. Church in Brownville, Tennessee, where he serves as the church clerk and the Vice-President of the ushers’ board. In addition, Mr. Thomas currently serves as President of the Ballard-Taylor Bar Association, is a member of the Criminal Justice Panel for the Western District of Tennessee of the United States District Court, and is a Barrister member of the American Inns of Court, Howell E. Jackson Chapter.
